Dimensional Insight Launches DI-Atlantis/ First Hybrid Olap/Rolap,
Query/Reporting, Web-Enabled, Enterprise-Wide Solution New Pass-Through
Feature Allows Users Access to Underlying Information <>

BURLINGTON, Mass., May 19 /PRNewswire/ via Individual Inc. -- Dimensional
Insight, Inc., (DI) a pioneer in the development of multidimensional data
analysis and reporting software, today announced the availability of
DI-Atlantis, a new enterprise- wide data delivery, analysis, and reporting
system that enables any organization to translate large volumes of raw data
into business intelligence.

DI-Atlantis benefits all classes of users; for example, the "power user"
has the ability to access data residing in any ODBC-compliant data source
throughout the enterprise, while the "executive user" is able to quickly
and easily access, organize and display data via a simple point-and-click
interface without the need to master complex and unwieldy data reporting
and query tools. The "typical user" can design very complex analysis
without burdening the IS department, and do it quickly and
cost-effectively.

"We have created the first truly hybrid DSS environment that integrates
features from EIS, MDDB, Data Marts, OLAP and ROLAP to deliver a
comprehensive product set to support all levels of users," said Frederick
A. Powers, president and CEO, Dimensional Insight. "We are delivering a
total solution that supports all business processes and all levels of user
skills within an organization. With this increased functionality, we are
replacing the CrossTarget product line with DI-Atlantis."

End-user Query and Reporting -- DI-Atlantis combines powerful new features
from the company's recently announced Diver 6.0 offering. Diver 6.0 is the
cornerstone of DI's family of products, this new version of DI's intuitive
GUI (Graphical User Interface) is used by business decision makers at their
desktops to extract data from a number of sources. It can access any
ODBC-compliant relational database. In addition, this new version features
"Quick Reports" and HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) report generating
functionality for distributing information across the World Wide Web or
Intranets.

Hybrid OLAP/ROLAP -- DI-Atlantis is made up of a collection of modules
(Builder, Selector, Data Integrator, and Dive Master) that allow
centralized production activities to run on a server or application
platform providing for shared use. The Builder is a powerful data
transformer that dynamically converts data from any source into a
multidimensional model. The process can be easily automated, reducing the
workload for IS departments. The Selector schedules real-time direct access
to relational databases such as Oracle, Ingres, and Sybase. The Data
Integrator joins/merges data from multiple extracts and applications, and
DiveMaster can combine multiple physical business intelligence models into
a single logical view, define additional "diveable" dimensions, set up
passwords, and further customize the multidimensional model interface.

Virtual Data Warehouse -- DI-Atlantis has the ability to bridge the gap
separating every desktop from data residing anywhere throughout the
organization. It is the solution for the organization that needs much more
flexibility in the implementation of DSS. DI-Atlantis can schedule extracts
from SQL and ODBC-compliant databases and build optimized multidimensional
data models. DI-Atlantis will also feature an automatic "Pass-Through"
option that provides the capability to dive below DI's multidimensional
models down to the underlying detail records residing in the source
relational database or data warehouse.

Other features include:

Web Deliverables -- DI-Atlantis also enables data reporting and analysis
via corporate Intranets. It allows organizations to deploy EIS applications
on their internal Web servers using any DI multidimensional data model. For
example, people in the field can point their Web browsers to their
company's Intranets to view timely sales and marketing data. Suppliers,
contractors, and business partners worldwide can easily share vital
information. Internal information systems (IS) staff now has maximum
freedom to plan and deploy an enterprise-wide reporting strategy.
DI-Atlantis works with off-the-shelf, Web browsers e.g., Netscape and
Internet Explorer and plugs into Web servers using the standard CGI (Common
Gateway Interface).

Ideal Thin IS Solution -- The open system architecture, modularity of
design, simplicity of implementation, and minimal training requirements
make DI-Atlantis the ideal solution for organizations faced with thin IS
resources and immediate business needs.

Pricing and Availability

DI-Atlantis is scheduled to be available in June, 1997. A typical 25-user
configuration will start at $35,000. A range of flexible upgrade options
will be available for existing customers.

It will be released to run on Windows 95, Windows NT, and OS/2 desktops by
the end of May, 1997; server platforms will include MVS, AS/400, UNIX and
VMS. Availability for Windows 3.11, Windows for Workgroups and Apple Mac-OS
desktops is scheduled for third quarter 1997. The "Pass-Through" feature
that will be included in DI-Atlantis is expected to be available in June,
1997.
