345.0. "DSCARDUP blows away DS PCcards" by VMSNET::N_WILKINSON (16 bit? We don't need no stinkin' 16 bit!) Thu Apr 10 1997 15:36

I have a customer with a NEC Versa 6050mh laptop with a DS PC card. She booted
the floppy and ran DSCARDUP and then booted WIN95 back. WIN95 no longer sees
the DS card. Pop it out/ pop it in, nothing.

We booted the floppy and ran DSCARDUP again, says no roamabout card installed,
ran PTPDIAG and told it i/o 300, said it cannot find card. Enabler loads
successfully at i/o 300, mem d000 and irq 11.

She did have a etherlink III card in during all of this. We took it out with no
affect.

She did this on two PC cards and now cannot see either one. How do we fix these
cards so we see them again?

Well, round 2:

She got some replacement cards and copied the latest drivers off the web site.
after boot to dos, she could run ptpdiag and see the access point. We ran
DSCARDUP on this one and now PTPDIAG and DSCARDUP and WIN95 all cannot see the
card. What gives here. Customer now has 3 cards that cannot be used. Any
help?

345.4A couple of ideas to try.IROCZ::SCHWARTZMon Apr 14 1997 23:4328
    Hi Nelson,

I don't have any explaination. We have been using this utility for
about a year now and this is the first time I can recall having this
    problem.

If the customer wants to send me the cards (or at least one) I can take
a look at it to see if there is something wrong.

When the card was first inserted into the Win 95 system, did it find
new hardware? And if so, was it a "Digital RoamAbout/DS" card that it
found? Also, has the customer tried it in the other slot?

If running Windows 95, have the customer check to see if they are
running the OSR2 version of Windows 95. This can be found from the
"contol panel" and then under "system". The win 95 version is
4.00.950, 4.00.950a or 4.00.950b. If they are running 4.00.950b, it is
the latest OSR2 operating system and will need to use the OSR2 driver
that can be found on the WWW (external).

Jeff
