1277.0. "Please vote for Worldcon in 1998" by HOTLNE::WILLIS () Wed Jun 28 1995 10:10
Red Alert Red Alert Red Alert Red Alert Red Alert
Now that I have your attention read the following:
It's only sixty days until the close of voting in the 1998 WorldCon
site selection! Already over 100 mail in ballots have been
received at the USA address and a handful at the UK address.
Intersection Progress Report Six is out and has the answers to the
Bidders Questionnaire sent out by Intersection from the three
bidders who responded. You should read these answers for
yourself, but we thought the most interesting were the following:
o Baltimore said that the part of the Baltimore Convention center
they have reserved for 1998 is a hole in the ground, scheduled
for completion in 1997; and,
o At least as of the time of the questionnaire (and still, as far as
we know) Boston in 1998 is the only bidder answering that
actually has a 501(c)(3) tax exempt ruling from the IRS.
If you are a member of Intersetion, the 1995 Worldcon in Glasgow, you
should have received your Progress Report Six with site selection
ballot. You can vote by mail (but your ballot should be received
by 1 August) or at Glasgow. If you are not a member of Intersection,
you can join with your ballot. We'll be happy to mail or fax one
to you or you can pick one up from us (or probably from one of the
other bidders) at WesterCon or the NASFiC. We'll also be happy to
hand deliver your ballot to Glasgow but be sure to follow the rules
on the ballot for hand carried ballots.
