| It's on Fridays at 8 pm on channel 25, before the X-Files. It's
supposed to have the same kind-of-paranoid view of the world.

| I found it rather difficult to swallow the fundamental premise of the
show. OK otherwise, but I doubt it will run for a long time.

I found myself liking it.
I suspect it's going to end up in the vein of the movies Firestarter
and Scanners, where govt agencies want to control what they don't
understand.
The uncertainty of the heroine and how she got into the mess was involving.
The (less-than) half-told stories of what happened to her father and mother
before and after the opening scene, what will we see of her apparently
dead twin sister, who is the guy that her parents apparently knew....
Yeah, it may not run long, but I said that about the X-files, and it hangs on.
The show (VR:5) was apparently rebroadcast Saturday night at 11:00,
still on Fox.

1263.4 | IMHO | QUARRY::petert | rigidly defined areas of doubt and uncertainty | Mon Mar 13 1995 10:40 | 12 |
| I enjoyed the show, though I wonder how much of that is the sex/suspense/mystery
aspect of it. Yeah, the premise of how it works is pretty bogus. Call up
someone, and then while their talking, drop the phone into the acoustic
coupler modem, and your transported into a VR world with them, though
they may not know it. Uh, right. It had kind of an X-Files suspense feel to
it, and the Committee aspect of it throws in the dangerous government conspiracy
aspect of things, so it will be appealing. And Singer keeps reminding me
in a superficial way of Darryl Hannah, which aint a bad thing. So it looks like
the stories might be interesting, but it won't do to get overly concerned
about the science aspect. That part doesn't stand up in a good breeze.

1263.5 | What's available? | EVMS::SCHUETZ | VMS Clusters - Memory Channel | Mon Mar 13 1995 14:17 | 6 |
| Any comments on what's actually doable today?
I kind of presume that flying around the city-scape is available,
but the scenes where she and doctor (same guy from ST:Voyager) were
walking around holding hands and playing ball, although
computer-generated, are not capable of being done in real-time, yet,
right?

We've already gotten response to the commercials for VR.5, and now we are
looking for feedback on the show itself.
Please e-mail FOX at "[email protected]" and include VR.5 in the subject
header, along with a choice adjective that fits how you feel about the
show ("great," "sucks," "weird," "confusing," etc.)
Thanks again for the on-line response.

| Hmmm... During the credits, I recall them announcing [email protected]
(or was it [email protected] - I'll have to check the tape)
There was an analogous blurb during the X-Files credits, too.

1263.8 | Missed it | EVMS::SCHUETZ | VMS Clusters - Memory Channel | Mon Mar 20 1995 12:55 | 6 |
| Any idea if VR.5 is rebroadcast REGULARLY?
I missed Friday at 8, and couldn't find anything listed the rest
of the weekend.
Anybody in NH tape it and willing to let me borrow it?
(I work in ZKO3, would drive to MKO).

| This show is getting interesting... Lots of plot twists and surprises.
BTW, saw a segment about the show on ET; went into all the computer
graphics work and included two other comments:
1) producers promise lots of 'whams'
2) delphi was overloaded with mail after the premier
BTW, not that this is any sort of measure, but they are 4 for 4;
every episode so far has had someone die in it.

| Thought Duncan bringing himself into VR5 was kinda weird.
In fact this whole episode was pretty strange;
I had to watch it twice to put the thing together....
