Please tell me the Robert Heinlein is not trying to pull an L. Ron Hubbard. I just picked up a book this weekend called _How to Win Back Your Government_ by Robert Heinlein. When last I checked, he was dead. He is still dead, isn't he? Huh?

I think this was mentioned elsewhere in this notesfile, but it was definitely mentioned in Locus. This book was written a long time ago. Some part of it may be in (or mentioned in) his "Expanded Universe", and I believe that it was mentioned in passing in "Grumbles from the Grave", which is collected correspondence edited by his wife (sort of autobiographical). It is being published now because of the election, and the widespread disillusionment with our government. Heinlein was very disillusioned with some aspects of our society but not with our *form* of government and this was his perhaps misguided (no one wanted it at the time) effort to rekindle idealism. -- Spencer

I thought rumor floated around a while back about some of Ron Hubbard's books being made into big budget movies. Anybody ever here this? J

My copy of Battlefield Earth says "soon to be a major motion picture". However, it's ten years old and the new releases don't make this claim. It was a great book but unlikley to be a great movie (unless someone such as Cameron is directing). Terry |
