There is yet-another-trilogy coming out.. Something like The Jedi Academy
(vol 1 is on the shelves in paperback) and does not appear to be tied in
with the TRUCE AT BAKURA at all. It appears to take place AFTER the twins
get a bit older.

| I bought it, it actually seems pretty good so far, not badly written...
The one I am leary of is the Hardback version out called
(something) at Bakura....or some such title.... I can really get into
the Star Wars Universe, but some stuff is such trash....

<spoiler warning>
There's an early reference in the book to a reappearance of the Emperor
and Luke's service to him. This appears to be after the events in the
Timothy Zahn trilogy and the "Truce at..." single novel.
Are there other novels set in this universe that I've missed?

1079.8 | Dark Horse Star Wars Series ? | YUPPY::SECURITY | Security @LDO | Wed Apr 06 1994 13:08 | 38 |

The reappearance of the emperor that you describe is probably that
which occured in the six issue Dark Horse Comics Star Wars series which
started to appear sometime around 1991.
Apparently (and somewhat dubiously) Palatine had the ability to
transform his consciousness across vast distances to one of many clones
of himself waiting in storage. So when Vader tossed him into the chasm
on the second Death Star only his body died and he woke up, much younger,
on the other side of the galaxy and began to rebuild his empire. Luke
eventually found this clone factory and, before he could destory it,
fell under the emperor's influence.
In the text/background sections of the comics there is one or two vague
mentions of Grand Admiral Thrawn, but that was the only connection
with the Tim Zhan books that I noticed. If there is any continuity
present at all between the two then the comics probably took place
before the Zhan books as the story opens with the Alliance fighting
various imperial factions on Corsucant (sp?-the emperors homeworld)
which the alliance use as a base in the novels, and I don't remember a
pregnant Leia nor any jedi twins lying around.
As far as plot content goes, it is no better or worse than the novels
(i.e. our heroes racing off in the Millenium Falcon to anywhere and
everywhere at the drop of a hat for often loosely defined reasons).
The artwork is O.K. (Cam Kennedy - The V.C.'s, The Light & Darkness
War[or some such title]) and the colouring is quite superb.
I believe that it's currently available (if you're interested) in a
reprint graphic novel format.

the Dark Horse series mentioned is called Dark Empire.
Leia is pregnant in it and there is a second series called
Dark Empire 2 which I haven't read.
All the stories tie together since they have to fit into the
Star Wars universe continuity wise and are all approved by George
Lucas.
There is a new series out called "Shadows of the Empire" which is
set between the events in Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.
Another series is called "Tales of the Jedi" set a long time before
Luke Skywalker's time. Plot has to do with the first Jedi knights and
the Dark Lords which leads to the series "Dark Lords of the Siith"
Then there is the X-wing trilogy which has to do with the events
leading to the takeover of the Imperial Homeworld.
Currently, the first 2 books are available in this series.
