1039.1 | Good con | RDVAX::PIERSON | Rouse that rable! | Mon Jan 06 1992 16:48 | 20 |
| All-in-all a very good convention. It didn't hurt that the Park Plaza is
probably the best SF con hotel in Boston. Hope Arisia can stay there for
some time.
Couple of things that could get better:
1. There were no, count them, NO used paperback dealers in either the dealers'
room or Dealers' Row. I know this is a much a media con as book con, but
is one hole filler too much to ask for?
2. The art show was still pretty poor. Only saw one thing I liked enough to
even dream of bidding on (it was reasonably priced and went to auction).
3. Why isn't Cafe Rouge open for dinner any more? I know this isn't Arisia's
fault, but it was still a significant inconvenience.
Things that got better this year:
1. The con/hotel support for the live role playing game (bounce, bounce!) was
much, much better this year.
2. Filking was handled very well there seemed to be a lot more of it this year.

| Why does role-playing escapism sound so good right now? (Rhetorical
question.)
OK, I've signed up for "Secrets of the Necronomicon". There are still
slots open (are there ever *not* any slots open?), so if any of y'all
would like to join in the eldritch-horror hunting (or fleeing, as the
case may be), send in your application (with a boxtop from "Count
Chocula" cereal - no, I'm just kidding) right away!
Or don't. The eldritch horrors will get you anyway. ;-)
