Know nothing about it, but I really wish they would show some of those
newer cartoons over here. I'd kill for new Starblazers episodes :').

997.2 | Akira | SUBWAY::MAXSON | Repeal Gravity | Thu Jul 18 1991 03:39 | 8 |
| You really should see "Akira", a feature-length technopunk SF animated
film from Japan. It was held over for three months at NYC's "Film
Forum", and was packing them in right until it closed.
With film like this, who needs LSD?

This seems like a likely place. There's been a fairly decent cyberpunk
animation series on M-TV's "Liquid Television" show on Sundays at 6:00 PM,
called "Aeon Flux". They've been showing little segments of it weekly, but
I happened to catch what looked like a 10 or 15 minute program which had most
if not all of it... Anyone know more about this? Who did it, is it available
on video, is there more, etc?

997.4 | Got a reply from AnimeCon | MILKWY::REN | Squash that bug!!!! | Thu Aug 08 1991 13:58 | 13 |
| I got the information from the Con. I don't have the flyer with me, but this
what I remember. The con will be held from August 30 through September 2 at the
REd Lion Inn in San Jose, CA. Memberships are $40 until August 15, they are $45
at the door. There will be a film and video program. The video program will be
simulcast over the Hotel's TV system. There will be two art shows, one
featuring work by professional manga and anime artists and the other being the
standard format (where anyone can purchase panel space).
There are six major guests from Japan. I don't their names, but they included
people who worked on Bubblegum Crisis and Nadia, The secret of the Blue Water.
Also listed was Mike Stern from ST:TNG.

| Though the con was a while ago, I just found an mistake in my last reply.
I "Mike Stern" should really be "Rick Sternbach", one of the technical
designers for ST:TNG.
BTW, his slide show presentation at the con was great!
