The following information was transcribed by me from a progress report
handed to me by the Lunacon chairman (Dennis McCunney) at Philcon last
weekend. Any errors are either in the progress report or introduced by me.

Writer GOH John Brunner
Artist GOH Kelly Freas
Publisher GOHs Ian and Betty Ballantine
Fan GOH Harry Stubbs (aka Hal Clement aka George Richard)
Science GOH Professor Gerald Feinberg

Emphasis this year in programming will be on Science (last year's was
fantasy). Other activities will include Films, Video, Japanimation,
Filksinging, Gaming, Masquerade, Art Show & Print Shop, Hucksters, Parties
(Con Suite, of course, and others will be seeded), Book Exhibit & Raffle,
and Hall Costumes (awards to be given).

Contact the commitee for information or special requests at

LUNACON '91
P.O. Box 338
New York, NY 10150-0338

The convention will be March 8-10, 1991. If tradition is followed, St.
Patrick's Day falls on or near this weekend. Balticon in Baltimore is only
two weeks later as Easter falls in March this year.

Sheraton Stamford Hotel and Towers
1 First Stamford Place
Stamford, CT 06902

To make reservations, either contact the convention at their address for a
hotel form and do this by mail, or call 203-967-2222 and mention Lunacon.
Do NOT use the Sheraton toll free number or you will not get the convention
rate.

Room rates $79/night for singles and doubles; $89/night for triples and
quads. Please reserve by February 1st to get this rate (it will probably
be available until Feb 15th via phone).

$20 until February 1st, 1991; $30 at the door. Group rates are available.
Advance payment for membership should be in the form of a check made out to
LUNACON, and mailed to the convention P.O. box, marked ATTN: REGISTRATION.
Be sure to include your mailing address, and if you have attended before,
whether this is a new address. Children under 10 may be considered "kids
in tow" and do not require a membership; however, any who independently
attend programming must have their own memberships.

There will be babysitting. Advance registration is required by February
1st, at $35/child. THERE WILL BE NO AT-THE-DOOR registration for
babysitting. Babysitting will operate from 10am to 6pm on Saturday and
10am to 3pm on Sunday. You provide meals, toys, diapers, etc.; they
provide juice, snacks, supervision and entertainment. For more info, send
SASE to Kathleen Morrison, 2458 Florin Ct., Bellmore, NY 11710

Policies: NO WEAPONS, except as part of a masquerade costume, DURING the
masquerade. No alchohol at open parties. While photography of masqueare
costumes is specifically encouraged, there will be two separate photo areas
(with different kinds of lighting) to avoid the use of flashes during
presentations. No cameras of any kind will be permitted in the art show.

Access by Car: take I-95 North to exit 7 or I-95 South to exit 6. The
hotel is to the east of I-95, between the two exits (since they increase
Northward, both directions involve overshoot and backtracking half an
exit).

Access by Train: Stamford train station is a stop for both Amtrack and the
New Haven line. (You can leave NYC from either Penn Station via Amtrack or
Grand Central via New Haven). Transit time is only 9 minutes longer than
Grand Central to Tarrytown (where Luncan has been for several years). The
hotel is only about 2 blocks from the train station (in the direction of
NYC), and the hotel offers a complimentary shuttle service to and from the
station.
924.3How Long is the drive?LUDWIG::WILLISMon Feb 25 1991 12:1610

    Hi,

I would suspect it is 3 or 4 hours. May be less, but I'm counting in
    some extra for traffic, etc.

924.5About 3 hoursSTARCH::JSLOVEJ. Spencer Love; 237-2751; SHR1-3/E29Mon Feb 25 1991 13:3119
"Boston" is such a nebulous term. Starting from my previous home in Arlington,
I was able to make this trip (actually to Greenwich, one town further) in 3
hours. 2.5 hours from the intersection of I-90 and I-495 at Westboro. You
should allow a little extra time if you plan never to exceed 55 mph, and of
course for getting lost in the two blocks from the I-95 exit to the hotel (I
have driven this and gotten lost myself, and I grew up around there).

The route is west on I-90 to exit 9, west on I-84 until Hartford, somehow get
onto I-91 south at Hartford (they are changing this around -- you might want to
call AAA for this week's incantation). Take I-91 south to New Haven, then get
on I-95 south. The directions from the I-95 south exit are in the Lunacon
progress report; I'll type them in as another reply this evening.

When are you leaving? Carpooling may be a possibility. [Moderator: can we
discuss this here?] I'll be leaving from Milford, MA in the early afternoon
(and taking half a vacation day). There are undoubtably others who might
offer rides.

924.6simplest driving directionsSTARCH::JSLOVEJ. Spencer Love; 237-2751; SHR1-3/E29Tue Feb 26 1991 10:459
On I-95 south (from New Haven, and ultimately Boston), proceed to exit 6.
At the base of the exit ramp, turn left, go under I-95, and turn left again
onto I-95 north. Proceed to exit 7 (first exit). At the base of the ramp,
turn right, and then before going under the railroad tracks, immediately
turn right again. You are now in a sort of commecial park. Proceed to the
end of the driveway; you are now at the Sheraton Stamford Hotel & Towers.
Unload car. Park. Register. etc.
