ARISIA actively encourages hall costuming, ribbons will be awarded to
outstanding hall costumes.
There are lots of rules around the weapons policy. Costume weaponry
may be carried as part of a costume during the convention but:
it must be an accessory to the costume
you must register it with con security
you must register EACH weapon with security
it must be peace-bonded
you must behave responsibly
it must be LEGAL in massachusetts
NO WORKING FIREARMS will be allowed.
they reserve the right to classify something vaguely weapon-like as an
OBNOXIOUS ITEM, depending on the actions taken with it....
Group rates are available...
5% discount for 10-14 memberships bought at once
10% for 15-19
15% for 20-29
20% for 30+ memberships
this means one check is sent to them, and they must receive it by
December 31, and the names of all people must be received by January
10 1991.
They will need techies to run lights and sound and projectors - every
con needs lots of volunteers to run it (and they'll be providing a free
TEAM ARISIA t=shirt for 8 hours of work. For 16 hours of work, your
membership will also be reimbursed.
There will be an amateur video contest.
There will be lots of films.
There will be lots of videos - including Jittlov, Japanimation, and
just about everything else - shown around the clock.
There will be round the clock gaming.
There will be a Society for Interactive Literature (SIL) game based on
Isaac Asimov's foundation series. Rates for this live role-playing
game are $10 until November 1, $15 thereafter. For information write:
John O'Neil - 9 Chauncy Street, Apt #32, Cambridge, MA 02138. The game

contest.

There will be an icebreaker - you will get a questionnarie if you

| I am the "area head" for filking at Arisia this year. Any requests for info
about the song contest sent by mail will be forwarded to me; so if you were
thinking about this you can send email to me instead if you like.
The program this year is experimenting with the idea of an ongoing interactive
"space opera" during the convention; this is NOT the role playing game being
run by the Society for Interactive Literature. Among other touches, we are
interested in having theme music for the major characters, such as the singer/
storyteller who appears from time to time in the movie Cat Ballou.
If you are seriously interested in submitting lyrics (or even a score) for this,
please contact me for a contest kit.
Unlike NESFA, which runs song contests to collect material for songbooks which
it publishes, Arisia does not wish to retain any rights to entries after the
convention. I can suggest several filk-zines where you might want to publish.
We can, however, guarantee an audience and appropriate recognition to any
entries that we use. Further details are specified in the kit.

Sound."
Arisia Needs You!
Remember, Arisia is biomechanically powered, requiring a large number of
people to exist. We are more than willing to show someone the ropes in an
area that interests them. it can be more fun to work at a convention than
it is just to go to one.
Gophers receive the following benefits: all gophers have access to the
gopher hole, a place to relax and eat. Anyone doing two or more hours of
work setup Thursday night or breakdown Sunday evening will receive a "Lens"
(irridescent button). After 8 hours of duty, you will receive a Team
Arisia T-shirt.
Have we forgotten anything?
Please tell us. We want your input.
This convention is for you.
