882.0. "Swordbearer by Glen Cook" by BIGRED::PARKER () Sun Jun 17 1990 01:39

    I just bought a new Glen Cook book (or so I thought). It is called
    Swordbearer and is about a young man who lives in a border castle that
    is soon overrun by an Empire on the march. The plot and characters
    seem very familiar. The publish date is 1990 but the copyright date
    is 1982. Does anyone out there know if this book was ever published
    before? It doesn't show up in any of the listings I have.

882.1Yes it has been published beforeBEING::LARSENMon Jun 18 1990 11:276
    	Yes it was published before as I have an earlier copy. I have been
    waiting a long time for the continuation as the ending seems to imply
    that there will be more.

    	Yes, you are right. The series I that he wrote was call PI Garet
    Case Files, which is in note 943 of this conference.

    	I never saw the book that Note 882.1 metion. It could have been
    written by someone call COOK GLEN, which is another author (I think?).

    I'm not sure what you mean by "the book that Note 882.1 mentioned".

    The only book he referred to is an earlier (than 1990) edition of
    THE SWORDBEARER. This exists. My copy is a Timescape Books (imprint
    of Pocket Books) edition from 1982.
