| No, it's not out on video. I understand there's some rights issues
concerning it, which is why it's not, but I don't know the details.
That's also why it hasn't been shown on PBS in a long time.
I have it on tape, though it is a copy of my original recording
(I recorded it at the Beta I speed and later duped it to Beta II
speed). As is obvious, my copy is in Beta format, which probably
isn't good for you.

855.2 | Need VHS format | NATASH::HYATT | | Wed Jan 31 1990 09:44 | 9 |
| Damn, I was hoping that wasn't the case. Its really a shame
when so many people are denied the pleasure of seeing a truely
classic film like that because of legal hangups. I hope its
resolved sometime soon.
No, Beta would not be of any use, I need VHS. But thanks for
the offer anyway Jerry.

| A note was deleted from this spot because it made an offer to copy a
tape. I remind readers of and contributors to this conference that
copying tapes, books, etc. may constitute a violation of copyright.
Digital does not condone such unauthorized duplication.
Please see Jayembee's note 1.59 which states the moderators' position
on this issue.

| It was not my intention to violate any copyrights. I was under the
impression that since the tape was made by taping a "through the
airwaves" TV broadcast, it was not illegal. Is this not correct?

| Taping from the airwaves is legal (but CATV is not "airwaves"). Making
a copy for someone else may or may not be. Please see note 1.59.
Discussion of this issue should continue in the VIDEO conference (hit
KP7 to add it to your notebook), as suggested in note 1.59.
This topic is now closed.
