This is a request on a subject partially related to SF, but I'm hoping
that there are going to be plenty of people out there with some
information.
Does anyone have any information about Ron Cobb. For those of you
thinking who???, Ron Cobb is an artist who has worked as production
designer for numerous SF films - notably Alien, Aliens, The Last
Starfighter, 2010; not to mention Conan the Barbarian. Ron is brilliant
at coming up with believable hardware, such as the "Smart guns" in
Aliens.
Some years ago I saw a book of his artwork here in the UK, which was
full of great (unused) designs for Alien. Of course I didn't buy it,
and have rued the day ever since. Does anyone (especially in the US) know
anything about this guy, and if any books of his are still in print.
