812.0. "The Wandering Unicorn by Manual Mujica Lainez" by TRACTR::FAHEL (Amalthea, the Silver Unicorn) Wed Jul 26 1989 16:04
"The Wandering Unicorn" by Manual Mujica Lainez is a story about
the French fairy Melusine, who was the daughter of the King of Scotland
and a fairy back in the Middle Ages. Her offspring are of the line
of Lusignan.
This book is fascinating because it weaves bits of fantasy with
history (mention is made of Constantinople, Charlemagne, the Kings
of Jerusalem, and the building of Notre Dame la Grande).
Don't be put off by the title. Someone bought it for me as a gift,
knowing that I collected unicorns and books about unicorns. When
I started reading, I just found the story so good. (FYI, there
is only the barest mention of unicorns at all, but there is a cute
explanation of the title.)
Has anyone read anything else by this author? I like the style.
Has anyone else read _this_ book?
