She also wrote "The Forgotten Beasts of Eld".
It's been a while since I read it (years), but I remeber enjoying
it.

| Ah, one of my favorite trilogies and one of my faviorite authors!
From Books in Print:
The Changeling Sea (for kids)
The Forgotten Beasts of Eld
Harpist in the Wind
Heir of Sea and Fire
The Moon & the Face (for kids)
Moon-Flash
Moonflash (same title, different publisher's version)
The Riddle-Master of Hed
Stepping from the Shadows
The Throme of the Erril of Sherrill
Moonflash has a sequel which may be Stepping from the Shadows --
I read them both but I forget these details! ;^) Anyhow, they are
more sci-fi than the Riddle-Master trilogy, but they have a good
flavor.
Her short stories are good too -- in many sf anthologies.

| The triology about the prince of Hed is one of my all time favorites
- I've reread it quite a few times. I find that I just plain *like*
the people involved.

| Yup, one of my all-time favorites, too. I don't remember too many of
her other books, though -- I guess I haven't read them. Time to reread
the wonderful trilogy, I think!

I think she also wrote FOOLS RUN...I'll look it up tonight and confirm
before the end of the week.
I read the riddle master trilogy about 5 years ago, and I must admit
I remember enjoying it and promising I would re-read it at some
stage in the future...I guess that time has arrived..
I also enjoyed Fools Run, though it was a very different book from
the Riddle Master Trilogy, I won't go any further with this just
in case I have got my Authors wrong.

Yup. Read it mere months ago, on "strong" (as in, "If you don't read it,
I will disown you") recommendations from my father. Not sure what I thought
of it, but I sure didn't like it enough that I would disown my (hypothetical)
children for not reading it.

| This note has been quiet awile, but here goes, anyway...
The Riddlemaster trilogy has long been a favorite; I first read it when
I was in the 7th grade. I didn't fully understand it then, but I have
probably re-read the three books once a year for almost every year
since! I am a little embarassed to admit this, but I am putting my
pride under my feet in order to end my confusion and ignorance...
I have never fully understood the ending!!!
**SPOILER if you haven't read it yet!**
At the end, why can't Morgan and Raederle get married?!?! So he's the
High One and she's kin of Ylon and a shape shifter? Seems to me they
would only be happy with someone else who could understand the
glories/pain of power. Can someone explain this? Am I being too
romantic in wanting a happy ending?
Thanks!

Who says they don't get married? I know it's not in the book, but I always
assumed they would. To me, the resolution to the whole story was more
about Morgon solving the mystery of who he is, and about both Morgon and
Raederle coming to terms with and accepting their power and their
responsibilities. Thus, the close, with the two sitting on a dock in Hed,
as "peace sent a tendril, like a taproot, into Morgon's heart" (or whatever
the quote is), seemed a more appropriate ending to me than going on for
another chapter or two to describe the wedding.... Yes, they both needed
some time to themselves, and spent time throughout the realm being
different, err, things :-), but they always came back to each other.....
