Problem has no basis in known physics, but, how many movies follow
the rules of science?

The movie is based on a book by the same name.
I've watched the movie and read the book.
The books better, which is not saying much. The authors from what
I remember (yes it was written by 2 people) went into a fair
description of why the men were stuck into the ship...

THE PHILADELPHIA EXPERIMENT (Project Invisibility) was written
by W.L. Moore and Charles (Triangle) Berlitz. It takes the
"known" facts about the project and speculates a lot. The movie
is Hollywood's version.
I liked the movie--not destined to be a classic but it kept my
interest. Typical SF theme--an ordinary man in extraordinary
circumstances. (True, the hero got a lot farther than he should
have, but that's typical H-wood. What didn't you like about it?

795.4 | The book is nothing like the movie!... | TADSKI::WAINE | Linda | Wed Jun 07 1989 13:55 | 14 |

The movie was very loosely based on the book. The book was NOT
about the adventures of one of the sailors projected in time,
but presented information in an attempt to prove that the experiment
did occur...
I personally liked the book....thought it was interesting. I had
discussed this incident about 10 years ago with a couple of physicists
(I was in college, majoring in physics) and asked their opinion
of the book. One of the physicists, who had met Einstein, believed
that the incident did occur and that Einstein had destoyed a lot
of his work because he felt that mankind was not ready for it....

Did anybody notice in the movie, when the hero was watching TV in the
hotel room, there was a commercial for the Digital Rainbow, with TWO
mocro-processors! I got a real kick out of that. Sorry, back to the
real topic.
