783.0. "Koontz's Lightning and Watchers" by ANOVAX::WHITE (You break it, I'll fix it.I hope) Tue Apr 25 1989 14:30

I just finished reading two books by Dean R. Koontz(I think I
spelled that right), "Lightning and Watchers". While "Watchers" would
be debatable in calling it SF I would definitely say that "Lightning"
is a SF novel. I enjoyed both stories very much and find I like Mr.
Koontz's style of writing. Has anybody else out there read these two
books? What do you say, SF or not???

I've been looking for Lightning for over six months, and nary a
bookseller in my area (Worcester) seems to have a copy.

Anyone know where it's to be found?

I was in Harvard square just last week and I saw multiple copies
at Wordsworth. I also spied a few copies at the shop in North Station
that sells all the Celtic shirts, hats, etc.

"Watchers" had been made into a movie? When did it come out and
who was in it? I'll have to search the vidio shops for it.

Hmm. The second sentence almost qualifies as a spoiler.

_Lightning_ is SF, though I note it isn't so listed on the paperback
cover, and the writeup suggests something more or less supernatural.

    Entertaining light read.

Lightning? Is that the one about the time-traveling Nazi with a
conscience? I thought I was reading an early draft of "The
Terminator" until a few revelations were made. I liked
"Watchers" in book form. The movie adaptation sacrificed crucial
(to me, anyway) story elements which resulted in a TV-grade
	movie.
