The US Air Force Academy english dept. is holding Nexus '89 "a

Speakers include "several NASA scientists" and SF writers Ray Bradbury,

"The two day event will examine the role of science fiction - how

steer the course of humanity." (From the Colorado Springs Gazette
    Telegraph, Monday, April 10)

The first day is at the Air Force Academy Fairchild Hall from
8:00AM-10:00PM and the second day is at the new Mariott Hotel
across from the Digital Rockrimmon facility. Registration is $50
for both days. Lunch on April 28th is $7 and April 29th is $11.

Just thought I'd give a quick report on the conference.

As Nexus is a new conference its not too well known and there was
a relativly small turn out of a couple hundred or so. In spite of
the small turnout it really came off well. There were a number of
excellent papers, speakers, etc. For me, the high point was being
able to meet the authors (Ray Bradbury, David Brin, Octavia Butler,
and Joe Haldeman) and speak to each of them on a one to one basis.
Due to the small numbers there was plenty of time for real discussions.
In addition the NASA SETI chief scientist and several people from
the Freedom space station program were there and available to talk
to. I can't wait for two years to pass so we can do it again.
