| Hi,
I've read the book in hardcover, thank you CPL (Cambrdige Public
Library). I liked the first book in the series. But this book
seemed twisted it seemed like he had too much to tie up at the end
and jammed it together.

653.3 | Review in a very small nutshell | JULIET::APODACA_KI | Songs from the Razor's Edge | Fri Jan 27 1989 14:05 | 8 |
| The Black Unicorn was okay, but not as good as the first book, nor
as good as any of the Shannara (did I spell it wright? ;) books.
I guess it's maybe that altho I like the hero, I thought his
antagonists were basically wimps and I surely didn't like his love
interest. Maybe it's the green....

I just finished the third book in the "Landover" series, "Wizard
At Large) (The series consisting of: Magic Kingdom for Sale - Sold,
The Black Unicorn, Wizard At Large). I thought it was pretty good.
I agree with the other reviewers that this series wasn't as good
as his Shannara series, but I still enjoyed them.
The third book continues with Ben's rule of Landover, and the story
starts with Quester the magician's attempt to return Abernathy the
scribe back to human form from the dog form he had previously turned
him to. Of course, he botches this up, causing an array of problems.
No spoilers here, just setting the premise.
I thought this was the best of the series, but I think it is because
Terry is finally able to flesh out the characters more after three
books. If you enjoyed the others at all, you'll probably like this
one.

653.5 | Green? Green? Plant-hulk! ;D | JULIET::APODACA_KI | Songs from the Razor's Edge | Fri Mar 24 1989 13:08 | 15 |
| Well, I hope the 3rd book is indeed better than the last one, because
the last one only annoyed me more than anything (altho I did finish
it). I think this is because while I like everyone in the book,
I cannot STAND that green girl Ben loves. In fact, I'd be the first
to pour plant-a-cide on her. ::evil smile:: I don't know, maybe
she is too "nature-girl" or just because she's so dern submissive
to Ben ("I am yours, etc..." ::barf::), but since she was the focus
on most of the 2nd book, it seemed to drag. On second thought,
maybe the momentum of the entire book wasn't what it could have
been.
I'll have to check out the store for this other one, tho. I do
like Abernathy and the cockamany wizard.
