    I am trying to locate a book I read many moons ago (probably 12 or
    more).  I remember the title however I do not remember the Authors
    name or even if my spelling of the title is accurate. The title of
    the book is MICHAELMAS and the story revolves around a gentleman
    whom with his computer control what goes on in the world.  I found
    the book real interesting and I am trying to recommend it to a
    friend however I cannot find it in the stores or library, (probably
    because I am mispelling the title,).  Is there someone in this
    conference that can help me with the spelling and the Authors
    Name.

	How about a little more info? That is kind of vague. I can think of at leat 10 books off the top of my head that fit this description.

	Re .1: The only book I know of with the title _Michaelmas_ is by Algis Budrys. Who wrote the other nine you are thinking of? -- edp

	The spelling of the title is correct, and the author is definitely Algis Budrys. I don't recall seeing the book much in my travels, though a library is a likely place to find a copy. Incidentally, one of his collections (I think it's BLOOD AND BURNING, but I'll have to check to make sure) contains a novelette that also features Laurent Michaelmas (albeit in a minor role): "The Nuptial Flight of Warbirds". --- jerry

	Re .0: Given the author and title, you can ask a library to help you find it. They should have procedures for contacting other libraries to find it and arrange an interlibrary loan, local libraries first and eventually the Library of Congress if it cannot be found anyplace else. Just ask! -- edp

	Hal, Try the Science Fiction Book Store - it's around the corner of 13th St & 8th Ave (or Hudson St - that's right where they street changes). They often carry out-of-print books like that one is - you probably won't find it in a store at this point. I have it at home in my collection somewhere, so could dig up more information about it (date, publisher, etc) if you come over here and twist my arm a lot. ..........steve
