Sounds familiar...i think the last line of the story was:
"And then there were none." Maybe that was the title too?

| i read it a lot of years ago and seem to recall that it went by
the title "and then there were none" indicating the fact that
the philosophy converted everyone
the author was Eric Frank Russell
possible minor spoiler
it was something about being a gand (or gandhi type non violent
person) or an antigand
there were two terms ob(ligations)
myob (Mind Your Own Businness)
which become clear to the terrans during the story

| I've read a book by James P Hogan (ex-Digit) which follows the same
basic concept as queried in .0
It was called "Voyage from Yesteryear'
I thought it was really good, put forward some really interesting
ideas on the way people/society behaves etc.

But this sounds like a story by Robert Heinlein. I think the slogan of
the natives was "TANSTAAFL" (There Ain't No Such Thing As A Free
Lunch).

You're thinking of one of the best all time sf novels, The Moon Is A
Harsh Mistress. Don't ya just love a computer with a sense of humor?
Sonic booms in the authority compound, toilets running backwards and
a televanglist that marks the spot of his demise with an "X".
