593.1 | "MacGyver" 1999 ? | AMULET::FARRINGTON | statistically anomalous | Wed Mar 09 1988 12:36 | 12 |
| Hmmm; I thought it was more along the lines of "...Asimov presents...";
the show was actually written by his co-creator (whose name I neither
recognized nor remember).
Being one always on the prowl for sf-based or violence laden, mindless
tv entertainment, I _tried_ to watch. Couldn't make it through
to the end; too mindless. It could be cute, but as .1 mentioned,
the nonsense and silly levels were just too great.
Reminded me of a (no science) science fictiony "MacGyver".

The pilot was on Tuesday night, a two-hour TV movie.

I liked the characterizations, but the plot, the story, and the
science were pretty awful.

| So then it's the series that starts tonight... Thursday 8:00pm.
According to T.V. guide, a corpse is found within a highly radiactive
room, and Parker Stevenson believes it to be murder.

I thought the lastest plot device was interesting - designer genes
for personalized death. The scientific possiblity of this may be
pretty far-fetched but the idea is intriging. liesl

Actually, the idea isn't really that farfetched. We're nowhere
near achieving that kind of capability, but it's certainly far
less farfetched than the Enterprise's transporters.
