516.0. "Asimov's Foundation and Earth" by RDGE00::MACIELINSKI () Wed Aug 19 1987 12:59
Has anybody read Isaac Asimov's latest book in the Foundation series?
It's called "Foundation and Earth", I think.
It's a very good book (as are all of Asimov's works - adjust for
bias here, I'm a bit of an Asimov freak).
Plot condensed:
Trevize (the bloke with a faultless intuition) has to find the origins
of mankind (for some reason unknown to me - perhaps I should read
a bit slower), and the WHOLE book is devoted to his travels/problems
in finding the mythical Earth.
He visits several planets gathering information about Earth (which
isn't much, because a Someone has got rid of most of it (the
information)) nearly getting caught by the Foundation (not returnin'
comp'ny prop'ty, mate (i.e. the ship (sorry about all these
brackets))).
Better stop here before I give too much of the plot away.
The good thing about the Asimov Foundation series is that they all
interlock and refer to each other, and even other series (like the
robot series). This makes reading a lot more interesting.
Anybody who hasn't tried Asimov, SHOULD.
