Excuse me if this is contained within the sludge of note 243 (I didn't feel like reading through that again), but I've recently seen this in a book store (for those of you who haven't seen/heard). It's Niven's sequel to The Integral Trees. I, for one, enjoyed I.T. and plan to read this one. -Steve

The Smoke Ring has finally come out in paper-back, so I bought it. It is at least as good a read as Integral Trees, however Larry Niven seems to have fallen into sequelitis. Nothing much happens with respect to resolving the main story line (Sharls Davis Kennedy). Don't get me wrong, I think Niven is as creative as ever. His imagination is running a full throttle. What's missing is real tension. Tony | |||||

There's a long short-story (novelettelette?) in the "N Space" collection. |
