    Anyone ready for an impossible task?
    
    Probably better than 20 years ago, I read a book and have been
    searching for it for the past 5 years. The problem is I can't
    remember the name or author. As best as I can remember the story
    line is this.
    
    An assortment of aliens are on a ship discussing the history of
    the human race and what is left of it after many thousands of years.
    They describe how a galactic superpower totally destroys earth
    and all but a small fleet of earthmen. These earthmen scatter to
    all corners of the void and in the ensuing thousands of years
    develope in technology to the point that they are refered to as
    the "Star Kings", (or something like that) and as can be expected,
    fight evil and support good. They are part of their ship, i.e.
    mentally tied into them.
    
    Anyway these aliens are on a voyage to meet many other beings and
    the "Star Kings" in a last great battle against the galactic superpower
    that tried to wipe out the human race. And this battle is in a
    system refered to as "Armageddon"
    
    I hope someone out there can remember the title and author. I remember
    realy enjoying the book and can't understand why or how I misplaced
    it, as I normally in the habbit of keeping book I like.

	Doesn't sound like Edmond Hamilton's THE STAR KINGS, but I haven't read that in 20 years, either. Hmmm... might it be one of the three John Jakes (yes, that John Jakes) books about II Galaxy: WHEN THE STAR KINGS DIE, THE PLANET WIZARD, or TONIGHT WE STEAL THE STARS? I haven't read these in quite a while, either. --- jerry

	I think you've got it, Don! I checked my copy of CROWN OF INFINITY (by John Faucette) and that looks like the culprit. I never read this one, actually. I read two others of Faucette's (the "Peacemakers" series) and wasn't impressed, so I never bother to read COI. --- jerry

	About twenty years ago I picked up a book called the Siege of Earth by John Faucette which was advertised as the first in the Peacemakers Series. While the story was only fair, I have a thing about reading complete series. Ever since then I have been searching for the names of the sequels as well as the actual books. A couple of the earlier notes lead me to hope that I may finally be able learn the names of the other books. How many books were in the series, what were their titles and were they all by Faucette? Is COI part of this series? Thanks, J.R.

	re:.7 SIEGE OF EARTH was actually the second in the Peacemakers series. The first was THE WARRIORS OF TERRA. --- jerry
