When I was in school, we used to play an amazing science fiction
role playing game called 'Cosmic Encounters'.
There wasn't much to it when you saw it in the box, just some cards
and some cardboard pieces. But to play it was an experience! There
were simple basic rules, but then each player had one or more
'Alien Powers' that had different ways to break, reverse, or twist
those rules.
They discontinued the game a while back. I'm not sure of the game
maker. They started to bring it back, but the new version doesn't
have the 6 or 8 expansion sets that you need to make the game great.
So I thought ... where's a better place to find out about the game?
Whose playing it? What do they think of it? And hopefully,
Does anyone know where I can get my hands on an old version with
expansion sets up to (at least) 'LUCRE' and 'MOONS'? Does anyone
have one they don't want any more?
If anyone has the game, they probably know why I miss it ...

| Note 216 in the PICA::GAMES conference is about Cosmic Encounters.
It lists some notes posted in 1986 about where to get the game and
expansion kits. Hit KP7 to add the entry to your notebook.
If you don't have any luck I know of a few game stores out here
in California where I've recently seen it for sale. I could get
one and send it out to you.

You might try puting a note in the Fantasy Role Playing conference.
It's AIMHI::FRP They might be able to give you more information.

AIMHI::FRP currently lists a refernece to a magazine which
has reviewed Cosmic Encounters and thats it.
