| Recently there was an ad for some soft drink (Dr. Pepper I think)
which was a takeoff on Blade Runner, where a woman detective tested
three replicants to see which one was really human by finding out
which one had real "taste" (ho ho) in sodas. It had an interesting
premise and even started out okay, but quickly became very weak
and stupid.
The Pepsi ad with the guy traveling back in time to 1885 with
a Pepsi (naturally) and eliminating Coke was simple and cute.

| There is also a faintly amusing piece of wishful thinking by one
of the cola giants. In it, we see kids in exotic tights sipping
strange containers of The Product while wandering around a futuristic
archeology site with their teacher. They unearth an old bottle
of The Rival Product and completely fail to recognize it.

| I just saw a slick commercial with helmeted guards and surveillance
systems -- they open a vault and light blazes forth -- to what end
this glorious epiphany?
