| *** POSSIBLE SPOILER ***
I talked with David Brin last night (He is guest of honor at
Atlanta's Phoenixcon this weekend) about "HEART OF THE COMET" ,
and there will probably be a sequel. So, if you liked this book
there is something to look forward to.

| I have a problem with this book... It never gave a convincing reason
as to why they got on the comet in the first place...

I just reread the book and I thought that one of the reasons was to
find new organic/non-organic compounds. They had already had some
experience on another smaller comet and had made some discoveries. They
were also testing out various new technology.

I thought part of the reason was an experiment in steering comets
into more useful orbits.

| re: .1
I talked to Benford (he was my physics prof at UCI). There is indeed
a sequel planned for Heart of the Comet, BUT don't hold your breath.
Benford is currently working on a series and so is Brin. Neither seems
in a hurry to finish their indivdual series. The sequel will see a
certain occuppied comet playing the role as interstellar spacecraft.
