| from your description it sounds like you are describing Andre norton's
Zero stone. There was also a sequel, but at this time I can't remember what
its called. I hope that is the one you are looking for.

| Is the sequel the Cystal Gryphon?
It's been many years since I read those so I can't remember anything about
them.... Sigh, only 24 and the brain is already going.

| Sorry, tlh, but THE CRYSTAL GRYPHON is the first of a sub-series of the
Witch World series. The sequel to THE ZERO STONE is UNCHARTED STARS.
(I've never read any Norton, so I wasn't able to answer the original
question, but this I can answer).

| Does Norton's FORERUNNER FORAY fit in there anywhere ?

| re:.5
Probably does. From what I understand from friends who've read a lot of
Norton, most of her series are connected together in some way, but the
connections are very inconsistent.

Thanks for the tips. I'll check them out. There seem to be a lot of Andre
Norton stories with the same theme here.

Since .1 suggested THE ZERO STONE, and no one's contested it,
I'd assume that that's what it is (I still haven't read any
Norton...)
But the answer isn't so positive to warrant changing the topic
title, if that's what you're hinting at.

| Well, I borrowed The Zero Stone and read it this week. This is
not the book that I was looking for. Any other ideas?

248.11 | And now....the sequel | CXCAD::WILLIAMS | | Wed Jan 04 1989 09:34 | 5 |
| Try the sequel to the Zero Stone mentioned in an earlier reply.
The name of the sequel is "Uncharted Stars". This is the one that
matches the closest to your original description.
John...a Norton fan from way back.
