| I believe that the nearby streets (north twords Beacon St) have metered
parking, but then you must feed meters during daylight. Not fun. Prudential
Center isn't too far, but I've never tried the walk with luggage/backpacks/etc.
I have my doubts that cheap parking is available, since otherwise the hotel
would loose parking to its competitors. I'll probably park and pay the
outragous rates unless someone gives a better answer...

| Our cheapskate lawyer says that the underground garage at the common is
cheaper.

| If I remember correctly from the last time I was there, the garage across
from the Sheraton, at the theater, is $5 during the day and an additional
$4 at night. I"m not sure whether they allow overnight parking but if
the prices haven't gone up $9 is better than $12 or $24.

Unless you really need a car, my suggestion is to park outside of the
City in one of the 'burbs and take public transportation (the 'T') to the
hotel. This may be somewhat of an inconvenience, but is the cost of
parking in the city really worth having your car sit in a lot all day???

| According to the Boskone brochure, the charges are $12 per day. I'm not
100% positive, but I think that the convention got special rates.

| We've decided to park our car at the 'rents and take a train into Boston.
Another alternative is parking in a college lot. You don't need a sticker
after school hours and on weekends (at least this is true of UMASS and MIT),
and it's a quick trip on the T over to Copley Square.
Guess I'll have to force myself to pack light and not buy anything big
while I'm there. Carrying luggage around is not a treat.

| Ah yes, parking in Boston, the consumate challenge of Massachusetts drivers
is something that everyone in New England gets a chance to experience on
occasion. My first urge is to suggest parking somewhere around Fitchburg
or even Springfield. I hear the it takes the Boston Ticket ladies longer
to tag you when you do this.
But seriously, there are free places within distance of Copley. I suggest
driving through the Fenway area, say Peterborough St. These streets are on the
south side of Boylston St in the vicinity of Fenway park. Coming in from
rt 2, take Storrow to rt 1 south (this is the exit that's 20yds after
kenmore sq. exit). Bear right at first lights and right at second lights.
There's a goodyear sign on the left. Any of the streets on the left are good.
Then walk to corner Mass Ave and Boylston and take the T.

| Ah to be in Atlanta (subway less than a mile from my place and a station right
at the convention).
