175.0. "Southern Conventions" by WARLRD::JELICH () Wed Feb 06 1985 16:30

Well, I got my advance notice for The Atlanta Fantasy Fair and Comic Book
Convention yesterday. This is a convention for lovers of SF, fantasy, and
comic books. It starts on a Friday in August or September and ends on Sunday.
If you are interested in advance ticket purchases and reservations, send me
mail at RHETT::JELICH (new node) or WARLRD::JELICH and I will electronically
send what you want. The brochure hints at the following films:

2 of the Star Wars films.
Space Seed, The Wrath of Khan, and The Search for Spock.
More Dr. Who
the usual tries for Star Trek episodes
old SF classics

Also, there will be a costume contest, art shows and contests, fantasy gaming
tournaments, and the dealers room.

I attended last years (at the same place), and felt it worth while (especially
after hours - anybody for a noters get together down here?). Advance ticket
prices for all three days is $17.50 till Feb. 28, $21.00 till June 30.

Also, the brochure mention a convention called 'Dixie - Trek 5' sometime in
May. It is another science fiction convention. If you want information on
that, I'll try to get it for you.

Sorry Nigel, can't seem to get more info about mailing in art exhibits. I am
trying to get in touch with a friend working on the convention, but can't seem
to (hmm, maybe he's tired of being bothered already, although the convention
isn't until August 2-4).

Hmmm.... Denny O'Neil from Marvel huh?, huh?

No chance I could go, but I was wondering what info
they have on the comic part of it. Being a collector, I was
wondering if anyone else on this file collects or has any
decent condition old comics, if so maybe (doubt it!!!) we
could start a comic file. ( it'll never work)

Hi, Sam! Long time, not note.

I have a fairly large comics collection, and like to discuss them over in
the comics notesfile (yes, there is one already).

See you in SBGVAX""SYS$NOTES:COMICS ???
