82.0. "Star Raiders- don't go" by HARRY::OSBORNE () Tue May 29 1984 14:09
If you're really interested in what the out-takes of "Battle Beyond the Stars"
look like, then this film is where you get to see them. Really. You also get to
see BAD acting, BAD special effects, ABSURD plot, BAD editing, and AWFUL dialog.
At one point one of the characters dies, and as they launch his body into space,
on of the other characters says "I suppose I should say a few words...". The
response (from the audience) is "no, not really...".
A new low from Corman (New World Productions). This is a turkey, and it's been
out of the fridge too long.

| The Boston Globe liked it, though. (I don't always agree with their taste.)

| The Boston Globe *liked* it? I'm incredulous. People were pushing and shoving
to get out of the theatre about 20 minutes into the film, and there were only
about 10 people in the theatre at the start.
But then, the Globe called "V" a "treat for sci fi fans".
John again.

82.3 | Magnificent 7 in space | SWAPIT::LAM | Q Ktl | Wed Feb 14 1990 16:15 | 4 |
| I saw this and my impression is that it's a bad attempt at producing a
kind of "The Seven Samurai" in space. If you prefer the American
version, it's "The Magnificent Seven" in space. I can't believe that
anyone would like this.
