809.0. "Monitoring agent for NT alerts?" by WOTVAX::MILESP (Peter Miles) Tue Mar 04 1997 04:28

Does anyone know of an SNMP agent on the market that can monitor NT server
systems for threshold status such as processes, disk space etc. It needs to
be a readily available commercial product, not an internal tool.

Basically I am looking for something that covers what "Event Central" would
have delivered before it was killed off. Does BMC Patrol do it on NT??

This is for advice in a customer situation where a CA or Tivoli enterprise
management solution would be too expensive and inappropriate.

809.2After actual experiencesWOTVAX::MILESPPeter MilesThu Mar 06 1997 05:417
OK I can check the Web sites for BMC etc.

However what I was really after was our real delivery experiences of which
products we knwo about for monitoring NT servers that fit this need. Should
have made that clearer in the base note.

Want to be able to show the customer we have been there and done it on NT...

Peter, well there is MSK (contact Jean-Marc Soyez), there is also
CA Agent factory and of course Remote Server manager (amazingly from
Digital!)

Ok these suggestions are some use but I'm still interested in any practical
experiences with NT monitoring tools - where we have been there and done it!

There is a product from NET/IQ called APPManager. Check out there
web site at : www.netiq.com -- use the /presents to see the
presentations. They just formally announced their product. I have
been dealing with them for a while, however, you should note that there
    is no alpha support (yet).
