Hi, I have two systems in a FDDI ring. One Alpha 400 with Windows NT 4.0 and one Alpha 1000 with Digital Unix 4.0A, both with a DEFPA-DA interface. After I have installed Polycenter Manager on Netview 4.1B, only the Windows NT system was discovered as belonging to the FDDI ring. The Unix system appears in the ethernet segment. Does anyone have any hint for this situation? Thanks in advance, Jose

2256.1 | query ifType | ZOTTO::ENYA | Yoshiharu Enya, Tokyo Japan | Wed Jun 04 1997 23:44 | 18 |
At first, You should query interfaces.ifTable.ifEntry.ifType mib value under mib-2 by using MIB browser. If you receive a response as "fddi" (Integer 15), it's a NetView's side problem. If not "fddi", it's a Digital UNIX SNMP daemon's problem. NetView auto-topology function locates nodes under proper segment icons that depend on ifType values responsed from SNMP agents. In case, ifType can't be correctly recognized by NetView or not SNMP runnging devices will be located to BUS segment. -- Yoshiharu Enya | |||||
