2220.0. "Terminal Server name = address" by CSC32::PITT () Tue Mar 04 1997 13:21
IPMTd the following problem under PDM 2.1.
Will post results here.
SYMPTOM:
The labels for all terminal servers are NOT reflecting the actual name
of
the terminal server. This HAS worked in the past where I could go to
the
server, change the server name, unmanage and manage the object and the
new name would appear. This implied that the name WAS coming from the
name:
field on the terminal server itself (not out of any databases on the
system). Customer stated (and I have reproduced it here) that the
server
names are showing up as the hdwe address, but not the format that is
the
default address on the terminal server. (Default address would be
LAT_08002b123456). In this case the name (label on the object) shows up
as
08002b123456. Here is the output of ovobjprint from my system showing
that
the name is in fact seen as only the hdwe address and NOT any sort of
name
at all.

This behavior is consistant across all types of terminal servers.
DIGITAL RESPONSE:
This problem has been reported to Engineering.
WORKAROUND:
None.
ANALYSIS:
It appears that we are actually reading the address field and plugging
the
response into the name field. This was NOT the behaviour in prior
versions
of PDM.

2220.1 | patch (already!!) | CSC32::PITT | | Thu Mar 06 1997 10:19 | 7 |
|
CA engineering has supplied a patch for this problem.
If you need it, contact 1-800-354-9000. I'll see about putting it
on a common site so you can access it on your own. Come to think of
it, I'll see about finding (and posting) a common area for all PDM
and TME patches that come out after our engineering folks have
transitioned out. 8-{
