Upgrading from V4.1 to V4.1C.
Starting the GUI with either OVW or PNV , gets a segmentation fault when
creating the default map and dies after poping up a message saying "Error
retrieving mapdb field info: Null field value".
Thereafter. Attempting to "Restart automatic map generation" or "Clear
topology databases" using pnvsetup simply results in a repeat of the above
sequence.
Completely deinstalled netview and reinstalled V4.1C gives the same result.
The only error message from pnvinstall.log is a permission error for
snmpCol.conf .

The permissions on snmpCol.conf resulting in the snmpCollect error were:
-rw-rwSrw- 1 bin bin 761 Nov 27 21:51 snmpCol.conf
Once manually reset to 0666 permissions (rw-rw-rw-) snmpCollect starts OK.
The problem does not produce a core file.
Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this problem is much appreciated.

The file permissions look ok.
Would it be possible that another snmpCollect was running? I would
do "ps auxw|grep snmpCollect" and also check /usr/OV/log/snmpCol.trace
for information.

there were only one snmpCol running.
snmpCol.trace has starting information and then incated that there was
nothing to collect which was correct.
I have asked the customer to goback to V4.1 when it was working (under
DU V3.2x) just to see if it works.
any other suggestions ?
