| As indicated in other notes in this conference, Tivoli has assumed
responsibility for engineering NetView. Digital has retained a product
management responsibility, and you may continue to forward requirements
to Suvankar (ZEKE::) Ghosh. He will consolidate those requirements and
work them directly with his counterpart at Tivoli.
However, Tivoli has also set up a direct mechanism for collecting
NetView requirements. The notice below was sent to the Internet NetView
mailing list. I have modified the form slightly to make it more appropriate
for our use. If you or your customer wishes to forward requirements directly
please copy Suvankar on that request so he can keep track of what has come
from Digital and our customers.
Keep in mind that Digital still sells and services this product, so it is in
Digital's interest to continue to represent our customers rather than
having them working directly with Tivoli. I would not recommend listing
our customer contact information on the form.

Subject: Sending new requirements to Tivoli
The subject of requirements has come up on this listserver more than
a couple of times recently and I thought this news might help.
Marc Ausman, who is in charge of new product development in Tivoli,
wants to liberalize the way requirements are gathered for NetView,
so that we might get a better representation of what users actually
want. So he's eliminating the old IBM middleman (way to go, Marc!).
In particular he has set up a new id,
[email protected]
to which anyone can submit requirements. The requirements submitted
will be accumulated into a database, and merged with the existing
requirements coming from the older, IBM REQUEST program (in which
an IBMer entered the requirement on behalf of the customer).
Please understand that this id is for requirements ONLY. You will
get back an automated response that your requirement has been
received, but there will be no personal responses. So please don't
send questions, problems, or bug reports, as they will be ignored.
Since this data will be merged with existing requirements, it would
be helpful if people submitting new ones would try to answer the
same kinds of questions that were asked in the old system. So I am
appending a blank and abbreviated version of that old form. You
do not have to use it to submit a requirement. It is just a suggestion
which, if followed, will make comparing, contrasting, and rolling up
requirements into new product function, just that much easier, I think.
So let 'em know what you want

Subj: Announcing Availability of TME 10 NetView for Digital UNIX
I am pleased to announce that TME 10 NetView for Digital UNIX will be
available from Digital for first customer ship (FCS) in the first week of
March. This product can be ordered from February 24th onwards using the part

functionality as the PNV DU product with the POLYCENTER brand name being
replaced by Tivoli Systems' TME 10 brand name. TME 10 NetView for Digital UNIX
is also similarly priced as PNV DU at a US list price of $15K.
I would like to thank the engineering team for a rapid conclusion of the
rebranding work, and the 5x5 product team for a successful implementation of
the Digital UNIX portion of the IBM/Tivoli contract. Rebranding of the
POLYCENTER NetView for NT product is currently projected to occur in the
early Summer timeframe.
Regards,
Suvankar Ghosh
