I have a customer in the middle of testing a new application which has been installed on a Intel WinNT V4.0 platform for which we are using a combination of PNV and ClearVISN MCM as management tools. Last week a bug was discovered on WinNT V3.51 Virtual Memory management which Microsoft have fixed in V4.0 and apparently are not going to fix oin V3.51. This bug is critical and the it looks that we have no choice but to upgrade the platforms to V4.0. But without PNV and MCM being available we will have no management utilities which is completely unacceptable to the customer. The service is to go live on 31 July 1997 and Digital is on heavy Liquadated Damages if this or intermediate dates are missed. We absolutely need to know the status of WinNT V4.0 support and whether there are any patches available to keep this project live. Because of the extreme testing requirements imposed by the customer we are looking to have to do the WinNT upgrade over the coming two weekends to allow the customer to retest on the new platform. Unless we have a solid position on PNV and WinNT V4.0 we will be in an extremely difficult position. The critical date is June 9th as the customer will commence operational readiness testing and must have the final PNV configuration operational by then. Any help much appreciated John
