One time I was hacking aroung on the system when all of the sudden
I notices that the error messages changed. Heres and example...

Could someone tell me how I did this?? I think I prefer the second
way as it comes across nicer.

YUP,
Set message /(no)facility/(no)ident/(no)severity/(no)text
Where
%DIRECT-E-OPENIN, error opening DD:[QUODLING]*.*;* as input
%DIRECT is facility
OPENIN is ident
-E- is severity
and the rest is the text.
Then of course, you can always write your own message file.
(Like to april fool one.)
