472.0. "? Split screen Application" by PARITY::ORNSTEIN (Ian Ornstein DTN 247-2492) Wed May 13 1987 14:36

    I'd like to develop an application with a horizontally split screen.
    One half of the screen will scroll as a sys$output and the other
    will be some form of menu.

    Any pointers?  Any suggestions?

    						Thanks,
    						- Ian -

    Sounds like SMG$ should fit the bill...

SMG is the cats nuts for this sort of thing. FMS can be used as well, but
might require too much overhead (simple to program, though). Also, look at
the source for PHONE and DEBUG, as they both do this sort of thing.

How about getting a VT330 or VT340 and the SSU product ?

That lets you split your screen and use each as a totally separate terminal,
over one standard jack connected to computer.

472.4Two sessions on VT100?ODIXIE::OSTERMANLarry OstermanTue May 19 1987 03:548
    Speaking of separate sessions, doesn't anyone have a hack that would
    allow viewing of separate LAT sessions on separate halves of a standard
    VT100-ish screen? I know you couldn't do simultaneous I/O to the
    two halves, but just the ability to switch back and forth between
    two always-visible sessions would be nice. After all, it will be
    a year or so before VT3xx's are generally available in the field....
