By changing the SET HOST to SET HOSTESS, wouldn't that be just
as sexist as SET HOST???
(and if you want to be fancy with signatures...)

| No, because there is nothing to prevent you from typing SET HOST.

| No, no, no, all of you have it wrong! The command came from LCG
land, where there is a node called TWINKY::

| In pre-v6 versions of TOPS-20, there was no SET HOST command, and
the way to do remote logins is by running a program called HOST.
Naturally, on many of the machines in Marlboro there was also
a program called HOSTESS, which was exactly the same thing, but
used only when going to (yep, you guessed it) TWINKY.
Another one I'd heard was a drive pack on a -20 system called
HELENS. In TOPS-20 you don't automatically have access to all
online diskpacks, sometimes you have to mount them (in software-
it may be physically mounted but you still can't get to it).
The command to do this was MOUNT STRUCTURE. So naturally we get...
MOUNT ST HELENS
(So this probably doesn't belong here, so sue me)

| TWINKY still does exist (even though it's now a KS-10 formerly known as
KS4097), and thus there's still a bit of life in the demand for SET HOSTESS.
I suppose that change will happen a lot sooner than TOPS-20 style command
completion and incremental help will.....but that's a different can of
worms that belongs in a different notes file.
oh well

| There is a FEMAIL utility. Send mail to PSWAPM::POSNIAK for details.
Don't bother sending him femail. If you can send him femail, you have
the femail utility.

You're sure? It will spoil everything.
Very well. FEMAIL is nothing more than an April Fools' joke. I didn't
spend a lot of time hacking it because I suspected that it was nothing
more than the MAIL utility with a prompt that was "FEMAIL> ". It was,
however, a very good laugh.

| MAIL is a utility we ship with the VMS product at no extra charge.
Therefore, FEMAIL is a MAIL utility for which a FE must be paid.
