1313.0. "de305 no network packets...." by UTRTSC::FOLKER () Fri May 23 1997 10:11

Hello

I'am troubleshooting a strang behaviour of the DE305 network card.
Configuration:
DECpc LPv 425, Pathworks V6.0 NDIS2 driver. Enhanced or Basic redir,
DECnet or TCPIP.

Using the DE305 on interrupt 15 or 11 (other IRQ not tested) and
IOBase 320. Made a bootable flop from witch I start the PC.
Sometimes no error is displayed on the screen during startup
(netbind, loading network components succeed), but net logon
failed (couldn't validated by domain server) and no shares
could be connect.
A warm or cold reboot sometimes solve this problem. In 20 - 30%
of the startup the DE305 failed. I have made an IRIS trace. When
the startup doesn't work the DE305 doesn't send a single network
packet on the cable. The only packet I see is from the server and
it's a nbsession packet from an old session.
I see these packets often, but the time it appears is critical.
When NETBIND if performed an the nbsession packet comes in three
things can happen:
1) the DE305 continues init and the network starts oke.
2) the NETBIND process hangs
3) the DE305 stopt sending network packets, the network doesn't start.

Only a few times the netbind process was hanging. Most of the time
the startup completes, but to often the startup failes.

Have somebody an idea what this problem could be ?

Thanks in advance
