If the onboard controller in your PC is a DC21142, then that option is not
supported by the Networks group, and you need to consult a PCBU based
notesfile.
If the onboard controller in your PC is a DC21143, then the DE500 based drivers
*might* work in your PC. The reason I say that they might work is because the
drivers are written specifically for our add-in network cards and some of the
drivers use information contained in a SROM to load correctly. If the SROM
information is present in the onboard controller environment then life is good
and the driver should work. If that info is not present, then some of the
drivers may not load.
You can find the drivers in the usual location (see note 2.*) including
kali::pcdrivers and ftp.digital.com/pub/DEC/adapters.
The reason that NT can't distinguish between the two controller chips is
because the PCI device IDs in both chips are the same. This causes much
confusion as you can see...
