1290.0. "dc21x4.sys vs. de500.sys diff?" by BARNA::DSMAIL () Thu Apr 03 1997 15:18
Hi all,
Can someone explain the difference between the file de500.sys (v1.08)
and the file dc21x4.sys (v4.03), working with a de500 card ?
We have found that on intel (Celebris GL, NT 4.0) working on a fast
ethernet,full duplex net, the first driver gives a performance about
500K bytes per second, and the second one shows between 3000 and 5000
Kbytes/second, even if we select explicitly 100 M/full.
In addition, while instaling the windows nt 4.0, detects automatically
a generic 'DEC dc21x4 chip...', and the net doesn't work. However, the
net starts correctly if we skip the detection process and clearly pick
up the 'DEC DE500 Fast ethernet PCI adapter', wich installs the
dc21x4.sys v4.03.
After this, i've found the file 50kit263.zip on the digital web server,
wich references to de500.sys.
Thanks in advance for your explanations,
Jordi Bosch, Barcelona CSC support Team.
