1288.0. "DE205 sometimes hangs during soft reboot" by HODJA::CHALONY () Wed Apr 02 1997 09:05
I have developed an application (MSK Agent) that runs on Windows NT 3.51 as a
service and uses Win32 API. Several users has reported that soft reboot
sometimes hangs when this application runs on WNT systems with a DE205 card.
Although this application has been installed on many platforms this hanging
problem arises ONLY on systems with DE205 card (it works fine with any other
network card).
I have tried on my system (Celebris GL) and installed a DE205 instead of the
default network card. The soft reboot has hanged sometimes. However, it happens
so rarely on my system that I could not give a description to reproduce
the problem. I am not even sure it happens only when the application MSK Agent
is running.
I have installed the following driver:
05/01/95 08:18p 24,064 EWRK3.SYS
07/08/94 07:36p 3,072 EWRK3.DLL
I don't see any reason for a user application to cause a failure in a network
driver. Everything works fine, just soft reboot sometimes hangs.
Any idea ?
Do you see a possible conflict in a user application that could make the DE205
driver hanging ?
Thanks in advance,
Patrick
