| Hello Adrian,
We don't build the DC21X4.SYS driver here in NPB engineering. That driver was
originally written by Digital Semiconductor (the folks that brought you the
DECchip DC21x4 products), then given to Microsoft to include in their source
pool.
Have you already checked your Windows NT 3.51 or 4.0 CDs to see whether the
.DBG files already exist for that driver?

| Hi Larry,
The kit which Microsoft are shipping with NT 3.51 is v2.3 (disks & service
packs). The kit being used on this site is 2.43 (which is from 3xkit241.zip
and 3xkit240.zip) due to it being "the latest". Do we have a channel into
Digital Semiconductor?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Without derailing my original request,
Can you also clarify some confusion I have on this issue of Microsoft owned
and distributed drivers, and why the version on ftp.digital.com is LATER than
the version on the O/S CDs and Service Packs:
In researching this I have taken the following into account:
Noting the threads:
1255 in this conference, 1244 in this conference, 5611 in decwet::windows-nt
...and the fact that I have an escalation with Microsoft who are requesting we
supply the symbol debug file since we supplied the driver.
Note also the difference in the driver version numbers
(alt-enter from file manager on the dc21x4.sys to check this) between the
CD (v2.3) and the ftp.digital.com/pub/Digital/adapters/de43x/ kits (v2.43).
In addition, the driver still has an internal manufacturer name =
"Digital Equipment Corporation".
Conclusion: There is strong circumstantial evidence that DC21X4.SYS v2.43
is "our" responsibility.
Thoughts?
Thanks & regards,
Adrian Moore
