1258.0. "DE500 - I/o Address" by VAXRIO::MARCIA_L () Mon Feb 03 1997 09:16

    Hi,

my customer works with a Prioris XL Server / Novell Netware
4.x and is trying to install two DE500. He told me both PCI
adapters are being seen at 8800 I/O Address.

Now, he is asking me how can it be changed, because he couldn't
find any option in PC Setup about PCI I/O Address. I tried to
find a possible option in EZWORKS Installation menu, but as
expected, there is no way to do it. When I click at I/O PORT
box, I get the following legend:

" DIGITAL PCI Network adapter IOPORT address setting
    assigned by the PC. "

Would you please tell me about some workaround to this
    problem?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance,

    Marcia

Uhm....the I/O addresses are assigned by the system and should
never conflict. If your system is truely "plug and play", it *should*
    have allocated these resources correctly.

Make sure that both cards are seated properly in their respective
PCI slots. You could also try changing slots - for example, pull card
A out of slot 1 and try it in slot 3 and pull card B out of slot 2 and
put it in slot 1. Theoretically, this shouldn't make a difference, but
something is causing your resources to be assigned incorrectly.

I currently have a Prioris XL Server in my office running NetWare 4.11
and two DE500s with no problem.

Also, make sure that the customer is running the latest driver, v3.10
and the latest versions of NBI.NLM (v1.49), ETHERTSM.NLM (v3.11), and
    MSM.NLM (v3.18).

Thanks for your reply Brenda. I'll talk about it with my
customer and ask him to give it a try.

May I find the versions of drivers you told me in 50kit260.zip ?

    Thanks in advance,
