1257.0. "Info needed for DE305" by VMSNET::DMCFARLAND (still TurboMom[tm]...) Thu Jan 30 1997 15:47

    Hello Gang!

    I have heard talk of a DE305 adapter, which is a Plug and Play
    version of the DE205. I did a search here, but found no info
    on "DE305". Maybe I should use a different name?

    Does anyone have the skinny on this new boy?

There was work on a PnP EtherWORKS III card but it was shelved (several
years ago). There's some latent support for it in the NPB DE20[345] drivers
but there is no actual hardware.

I don't believe that product is announced yet which is why there's a dearth of
public information. Contact the EtherWORKS product manager (Adrienne Denault -
NETCAD::DENAULT) or Project Manager (Joe Kwong - NETCAD::KWONG) for more info
on that.

    Larry,

    Thanx for the reply. It sounds as if this card may not be so close
    to its release date as I thought...

1257.4DE305 for Win95/DECnet?VMSNET::DMCFARLANDstill TurboMom[tm]...Fri Feb 07 1997 09:1016
    CROSS POSTED IN PATHWORKS CONFERENCE

    Hi gang,

    I received a flash message in Exchange mail regarding the new DE305
    PnP network adapter card. The blurb describes the card as NE2000
    compatible. PATHWORKS for Windows95 has not supported the NE2000
    or any of its clones/compatibles because the driver did not recognize
    the PROTOCOL.INI keyword NETWORKADDRESS=.

    Question: Does the DE305 use the Win95 supplied driver? Does it have
    its own driver for Win95 which will support setting the station address
    for DECnet? The flash message does NOT list PATHWORKS as one of its
    networks.  :-(

Please ask the folks I listed in .2.

    	Diane,
    		The DE305-AA is a replacement ISA_BUS card for DE203/4/5.
    	It supports ISA_Plug&Play (PnP) mode, ie takes the hassel off the
    	Hardware configuration due to resource conflicts (I/O, IRQ, MEM,
    	etc.)

    	Product has been announced and in SHIP. I've informed appropriate
    	individual to put the S/W kit release V1.0 on kali::pcdrivers:[...]

    	The release V1.0 diskette includes a Win'95 driver. NE2000 compatible
    	mode is additional feature of this modern low cost NIC.

    	Please refer to the following announcement....
