I have a customer who is installing a number of 4100's and 1000's they all have DEFPA's. They want to know if they can connect these system through the DEFPA's to a FDDI hub and then connect the hub to the outside world. I am assuming they can do this. They will need to have seperate IP addresses for each system so they can get to each system. Another question they had is can they connect one DEFPA to another DEFPA without connecting to a FDDI hub.

With two SAS (single attachment station) DEFPA's, they can connect them point to point. With two or more DAS (dual attachment station) DEFPA's, they can connect them in a ring ("daisy chaining") without the use of an FDDI concentrator. - Larry |
