The Enet address field is used when you have the GL version with
the on-board NIC installed.
Which is not your case, since you have a add-on card.
The on-board card uses a DC21142 chip. (10/100MB)
The DE450 uses a DC21140. That's why the BIOS ignores the Enet
address, since to its opinion this machine does not have an
on-board enet card.
Why EZworks can't find the card, I don't know.
But, if your OS is something like Windows NT (3.15/4.0) or
Windows 95, just install the driver.
Under NT, you can only install it, when the driver sees the card.
Under Windows 95, the OS will come up telling you that it found
a DC21140 based adapter and that it wants the Windows 95 CD.

1243.5 | Correction: DE450 has a DC21041 | SUTRA::16.36.2.83::Bats | Speeding, speeding, I'm always speeding | Mon Jan 27 1997 17:34 | 7 |

Correction to the previous note:
The DE450 has a DC21041 and not a DC21140.

1243.6 | Thanks, this is what I wasn't sure of. | STAR::DMORIN | | Tue Jan 28 1997 08:50 | 12 |

Thanks for the information. Now I understand what I need to look for.
I was trying to load Solaris from SUN but the DE450 is not on their
supported hardware list. I called SUN and they will looking at
building a driver for DE450. For now I'm going to go out and buy
a card that is on SUN's supported list.
Thanks again
